A limb came through the roof? We patch it, replace the broken decking under it, and get the house sealed back up.

North Georgia is a wooded place, and big pines and oaks hang over a lot of roofs. When a storm drops a limb, the shingles are the easy part. A heavy branch usually cracks or punches through the decking underneath, and if that board is not replaced, the patch on top will sag and leak again.
So we fix it from the structure up. The broken decking comes out, new decking goes in, then underlayment and shingles matched as closely as we can to the rest of the roof. Wind damage gets the same treatment: lifted or torn shingles are replaced and resealed, and we check the rest of the roof for the ones that lifted and fell back flat.
After a storm, look at the roof from the ground, check the attic for daylight or wet insulation, and keep an eye on ceilings for new stains. If anything looks off, call us and we will come take a look.
“Dave has been great to work with over many years at both my own residences and at rental properties. He's done two new roofs for me, plus any number of repairs (usually a falling branch poking a hole in the roof).”
It is worth a look. A heavy limb can crack the decking or break the seal on a row of shingles without leaving an obvious hole. Check the attic under that spot for daylight or damp wood, and call us if you are not sure.
Yes. If a limb cracked or punched through the decking, that section gets replaced before new underlayment and shingles go on. Patching shingles over broken decking is how the same spot starts leaking again.
We match the color and style as closely as we can. Shingles weather over the years, so a new patch can look a little brighter at first and blends in as it ages.
