A water stain on the ceiling is almost never right under the problem. Water gets in at one spot, runs along the decking or a rafter, and drips somewhere else. So a good repair starts on the roof, not in the bedroom: we look at the flashing, the vents, the valleys and the shingles around the stain until we find the real entry point.
Most leaks come from a short list of places. Pipe boots crack in the sun. Flashing pulls away where the roof meets a wall or a chimney. Wind lifts a row of shingles and the next rain finds the gap. These are small fixes when they are caught early, and expensive ones when the decking underneath has been wet for a season.
If a repair is the right call, we fix it and tell you what else we saw while we were up there. If the roof is at the point where patches will not hold, we will tell you that too, and explain why, so you can decide on your own timeline.
“I needed a few repairs done to my roof and went with Dave Clark Roofing. Price was fair, he was patient with my questions, knowledgeable, super friendly and they worked fast.”
Usually, yes. Most leaks start at one spot, like a cracked pipe boot, loose flashing or a few missing shingles. We fix that spot and look over the rest of the roof while we are up there. If the roof is worn out everywhere, we will say so and explain the difference.
Water rarely drips straight down. It gets in at one point, runs along the decking or the framing, and shows up somewhere else. That is why we find the leak from the roof side instead of guessing from the stain inside.
Yes. A small leak keeps wetting the same decking and insulation every time it rains. Caught early it is often a quick repair. Left for a season it can mean replacing rotted decking and drywall on top of the original fix.
