Roof work for Tucker's 1960s and 1970s ranch and split-level homes, with repair versus replacement explained in plain terms.

Tucker only became a city in 2016, after nearly three quarters of voters said yes, but its houses are a lot older than its charter. The median home here was built in 1981, and almost half went up before 1980. Most are the ranch and split-level houses Tucker is known for. Architectural shingles usually last somewhere around 20 to 30 years, so many of these roofs are already on their second or third set. When we tear one off, we check every sheet of decking and replace what has gone soft.
NOAA's storm records for Tucker read like a list of street names. On November 18, 2015, the National Weather Service confirmed a brief EF0 tornado near the Mountain Industrial Boulevard exit that peeled back part of a building's roof on Hammermill Road and uprooted two pines. In July 2017, storms dropped trees and power lines on Midvale Forest Drive, Prestwick Drive and Churchwell Lane. A January 2006 storm pulled shingles off a house on Cardinal Drive. During Helene in September 2024, DeKalb County relayed about 100 reports of trees and power lines down.
Tucker sits about 30 miles from our base in Winder. Roughly 37 percent of homes here are rented, and we handle new roofs, repairs and upkeep for landlords juggling several older houses. If your subdivision has an HOA, check with it before picking a shingle color. Tucker's own permit page reminds residents that subdivision covenants can cover things the city does not regulate.
"David did a stellar job on my roof. It’s really beautiful. I own rental properties so he has actually done a few roofs for me and lots of repair and maintenance on my older roofs. He is easy to work with and so reliable."

Small ones. NOAA's database shows a brief EF0 near Tucker on November 18, 2015, just northeast of the Mountain Industrial Boulevard exit, with winds estimated at 75 mph. It peeled back roofing on a Hammermill Road building and uprooted two pines. The more common reports around Tucker are trees and power lines blown down, like the July 2017 storms on Midvale Forest Drive.
It depends on what the whole roof looks like. If the shingles are brittle everywhere, patching one spot just moves the leak somewhere else. If the roof is sound and the trouble is in one area, a repair makes sense. We lay out the pros and cons of each before you spend anything.
Possibly. The city's building page notes that subdivision covenants can govern items the city does not regulate, and it tells homeowners to check with their association first. Ask your HOA about approved shingle colors before material is ordered, and we can hand you the product details your board may want.
All the time. Landlords use us for new roofs, repairs, and keeping older roofs maintained across multiple properties.
We're based in Winder and roof across Barrow, Clarke, Oconee, Jackson, Walton, Gwinnett, and DeKalb counties. That covers Athens, Watkinsville, Jefferson, Monroe, Lawrenceville, Snellville, Stone Mountain, Tucker, Decatur, Avondale Estates, and the towns in between. Further out? Call and ask.
No. Estimates are always free with no pressure. We treat your home like our own and stand behind every roof we put on.
